Evolaism, is an esoteric, extremely authoritarian, radically far-right and occult counter-enlightenment ideology based on the views of philosopher, painter and poet File:JuliusEvola.png Julius Evola. Evolaism in general is based on a few principles, being Neo-Fascism, File:Traditionalistschool.png ultra-traditionalism, File:Mythic.png Mysticism and File:Occult.png Occultism. He was praised by File:Mussolini.png Mussolini for establishing Template:PCB, in contrast to Germany's File:ScientificRacism.png Template:PCB. Despite this, Evola had later felt the limits of Italian Fascism, as he, in contrast to its pro-modernist stances, was anti-modernist and reactionary.

Political Beliefs

[edit]

Evola believed in a state led by a spiritual elite with supreme power over the people, citing groups like the Nazi SS and Romanian Iron Guard as examples. His philosophy combined the spiritual ideas of Traditionalist writers like René Guénon with the political interests of the European authoritarian right. Although Evola advised Mussolini on racial policies, his influence was limited, and he remained on the fringes of official circles due to his eccentricity and unconventional views. He worked for Il Regime Fascista but didn't join any political party, as his beliefs didn't align well with the mainstream Fascist ideology, especially its relationship with the Catholic Church. Evola fled to Berlin during the fall of the Fascist regime in 1943, possibly aided by his connections with the SS. In 1951, he was arrested in Italy for promoting Fascism but was acquitted, declaring himself as "superfascist" rather than a traditional Fascist. Whether he meant that he was above Fascism entirely or was a supreme form of Fascism is unclear, though it's generally agreed that the former is the case.

Nazi Maoism

[edit]

Nazi Maoism was a short-lived political movement in Italy around 1968. It began with a student group from Sapienza University of Rome called Lotta di Popolo ("Struggle of the People"). Inspired by Franco Freda, they tried to mix far-left and far-right ideas. Their slogan was “neither capitalism nor communism, neither reds nor reactionaries.” They wanted a “fascist dictatorship of the proletariat,” using Maoist guerrilla tactics to overthrow the government and ruling class.

The movement largely disappeared after Lotta di Popolo dissolved in 1973, though some similar groups carried parts of its ideas into the late 1970s. Elements of Nazi-Maoism, like social concerns, violent anti-Americanism, and anti-Zionism, influenced far-right groups such as Terza Posizione and Forza Nuova.

Disintegration of the System

[edit]

In 1969, Franco Freda published The Disintegration of the System, which became influential for the Italian far-right. In it, he broke with traditional anti-communism and proposed an alliance between far-left and far-right radicals against both capitalism and the liberal democratic state. He envisioned a hierarchical, collectivist state inspired by Plato, earning him the label “Nazi-Maoist.” His ideas influenced groups like Lotta di Popolo and Terza Posizione.

Freda admired Hitler, promoted “morphological racism,” and worked with the neo-fascist Ordine Nuovo. He was repeatedly tried from 1971 onward, notably for the Piazza Fontana bombing, though acquitted of that charge. Still, he was sentenced to 15 years for subversive association.

Personality

[edit]

Superfascism cannot stop talking about ancient times, which he sees as the only reality worth attention. Calls nearly everyone degenerate, decadent, effeminate and subhuman. Has a very fragmentary approach to religion and culture, cherry-picking elements he likes and disregarding elements he dislikes. Becomes extremely violent and vulgar when he sees a woman.
