Do not fill this in!{{MessageBox/Talkpage}} Hello All, My name is Ian Fletcher. I am the author of the manifesto quoted at the header of the Anarcho-Jazzism page. While I am flattered that someone read my manifesto and heartened that there are like-minded anarchist/jazz musicians, I'd like to clarify a few things: The All-Anarchist Jazz Band and the manifesto written for it are NOT an attempt to establish neither a new sub-genre of jazz nor a new branch of Anarchist political thought. Rather, it is simply an attempt to organize jazz musicians using the existing and well-trod anarchist praxises of mutual aid and horizontal organizing to help the marginalized and better their communities. To that end, I must reject the label of "Anarcho-Jazzism" I do not believe that jazz alone (or any other art form for that matter) contains the ability to dismantle the state or capitalism in any long lasting or meaningful way in and of itself. Nevertheless, I think the AnJazz ball is cute and I'm pleased to see people taking even a satirical interest in our work. In 2023, we put on a series of small benefit shows for local mutual aid groups in the Providence area which were quite successful. The members of the band have since all moved onto other things. Perhaps with the support of the Polcompball community, the AAJB or other like-minded projects will flourish once more in the future.
