Basically Infante Carlos María Isidro, instead of being a bitter power-hungry "grrr no girls allowed on the throne!" guy, he could've accepted the pragmatic sanction and allow Ferdinand VII's daughter, Isabella II the throne on the conditions that he would be regent after Ferdinand VII died, and his son, Carlos Luis, married Ferdinand VII's daughter (Isabella II), thus the Spanish royal family and the title of Monarch of Spain would be through both of their progeny.
