Anarcha-Feminism, clipped to Anfem, is a culturally far left, stateless ideology that inhabits the far Libertarian Left part of the political compass.
She states that the
patriarchy is a direct result of a hierarchy, and that dissolving authoritarianism comes with the abolition of the patriarchy. Often seen with
Anarcho-Communism, she is dedicated to absolute equality of the genders, races, and social status.
History
The mix of anarchism and feminism first came about within the free-love position within
Anarcho-Individualism, which particularly stressed women's rights. The most prominent early figure in the movement after this was File:Goldman.png Emma Goldman, who is notable for bringing
feminism to collectivist anarchism, which anarcha-feminism has mostly been associated with ever since.
Variants
File:PostmodernFem.png Butlerism
Judith Butler is an American philosopher, gender theorist, and political activist, widely regarded as one of the foremost figures in contemporary critical theory and queer studies. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1956, Butler studied philosophy at Yale University before completing her Ph.D. at Harvard University. Her early work focused on ethics, politics, and linguistic philosophy, but she rose to prominence with the publication of Gender Trouble (1990), which challenged conventional understandings of gender and sexuality and introduced the concept of gender performativity.
Butler combines post-structuralist philosophy,
critical theory, and political activism. Central to Butler is the critique of normative gender categories and heteronormativity, emphasizing that identity is socially constructed through repeated performative acts rather than rooted in biological determinism. Butler extends these critiques to broader social hierarchies and normative power structures, engaging with
post-anarchism and
post-leftist thought to question conventional frameworks of political organization and authority.
Butler’s political engagement complements her theoretical work. She has been sympathetic to the File:Occupy.pngOccupy Movement and other grassroots activist campaigns, framing social justice struggles as interconnected with critiques of structural inequality. Her positions often align with progressive causes, including LGBTQ+ rights,
anti-Zionism, and broader anti-oppression activism, while her scholarship emphasizes intersectionality and the complex interplay of power, identity, and discourse. This alignment demonstrates the practical application of Butlerist theory to contemporary political movements.
In addition to queer theory, Butler engages with critical theory and ethical philosophy, drawing on figures such as Michel Foucault, Hannah Arendt, and the Frankfurt School. She has explored the ethics of non-violence, political resistance, and the responsibilities of citizens under conditions of social inequality. Her work on performativity and social norms has influenced debates in feminist theory,
queer studies, and post-structuralist political thought, connecting theoretical innovation to contemporary activism.
A notable aspect of Butler’s intellectual approach is her acknowledgment of the logical consequences of her ideas, particularly around consent and autonomy. By framing consent as a central ethical principle and analyzing power dynamics abstractly, she recognizes that her theoretical framework can be interpreted in extreme ways, including hypotheticals that society finds deeply unsettling. Butler does not endorse illegal or abusive behavior, but she openly “bites the bullet” on the fact that the theory itself, if taken to its conceptual limits, can be invoked in ethically troubling contexts such as child abuse.
Personality and Behaviour
AnFem is usually presented as a stereotypical
Third-Wave Feminist who usually hates
toxic masculinity, especially when compared with other
anarchist balls. Unlike her sister
Radical Feminism, she doesn't hate men, but detests masculinity in men. As a third wave feminist, she prides herself on being a nuisance to the
patriarchy.
In conversations with other anarchists, she always remembers the issue of File:WomenLib.png women's liberation.
How to Draw

- Draw a ball.
- Draw a black diagonal line on the ball.
- Fill the bottom half with black and the top half #8E0095 purple.
- Draw a pink/purple bowtie on the top right of the ball, just to symbolize it's female appearance.
- Draw in the eyes.
