"Why join the Navy... if you can be a pirate?"
Hydrarchy literally meaning Rule of the Waters is a term used to refer to a system of government in which political power is concentrated in pirates or more generally in sailors. The ideology itself is used to ideologically represent actual pirates (as opposed to the File:FDF-Pirate.png internet kind), especially historically.
Pirate societies were historically
Stateless Societies, who also believe in semi-equal wages (a captain only got twice as much as an average pirate).
Piracy might also support both right-wing or left-wing economically. For instance, many people see elements of Quasi-socialism in the Victual Brothers and the Likedeelers, who were common people that became pirates and promoted equality, but there were also pirate societies clearly favoring free markets, such as Chinese pirate Wang Zhi, who was a merchant that turned to piracy as a result of Chinese Government strongly regulating sea trade.
History
[edit]Ancient Pirates
[edit]Pirates have existed since antiquity in the area known as the Mediterranean. An early example of pirates were the Sea Peoples who attacked various Mediterranean civilizations prior to the bronze age collapse.
Medieval Pirates
[edit]Pirates were rather prominent in medieval Europe. With some of the most prominent hydrarchs being File:NorseTheo.png Vikings like the Victual Brothers.

Modern Pirates
[edit]In the modern day, hydrarchy is primarily practiced by people in Somalia which is a country that due to civil conflict does not have much economic opportunities. Thus leading a lot of people to raid nearby-ships.
Pirate Code
[edit]A pirate code, pirate articles or articles of agreement were a code of conduct for governing pirates. A group of sailors, on turning pirate, would draw up their own code or articles, which provided rules for discipline, division of stolen goods, and compensation for injured pirates. This form of communal governance would typically divvy up the earnings from the loot, with every crew member taking an equal share, with the captain taking two share.
Personality
[edit]Hydrarchy acts as the stereotypical pirate you would see in films and cartoons. Based on the pirates in the golden age of piracy like Blackbeard.
