Fictional Ideology
"The party would like to remind you this ideology has never existed" - Ingsoc
This article is about a fictional ideology and has no foundation in real life political movements.

"The true herdist, the man truly dominated by that inferior instinct, will not only rejoice in marching amongst twenty thousand uniformly clad soldiers, all stepping rhythmically in one direction, but he will find an almost equal gratification in contemplating the show from a balcony."

Ochlocracy, also called Mob Rule, is the ideology representing File:Offcompass.png Off-Compass File:Dem.png Democracy, specifically the File:Directdem.png direct variant. Ochlocracy believes that direct democracy and majoritarianism should be enforced through extreme violence. Ochlocracy also believes that all actions are okay if they are approved by the majority in any scenario, including assault, looting, gang rape, vandalism, and murder.

History

[edit]

The term "Ochlocracy" was originally coined by the Greek historian Polybius to describe a corrupted version of popular rule. The distinction between noble and corrupted versions of governmental systems was a common theme within Greek political philosophy, aligning Ochlocracy with File:Auto.png Autocracy and File:Oligarchy.png Oligarchy and against File:Monarch.png Monarchism, File:Arist.png Aristocracy and File:Dem.png Democracy/Republicanism File:Republicanismpix.png. Polybius's predecessor, Aristotle, distinguished between different forms of democracy, stating that those who ignore the law become an ochlocracy. Aristotle's teacher, Plato considered democracy an outdated form of government, and the term is absent from his works. The threat of "mob rule" to democracy is contained by ensuring that the rule of law protects minorities or individuals from short-term demagoguery or moral panic. Some authors, such as Bosnian political theorist Jasmin Hasanović, link the emergence of ochlocracy in democratic societies with the decline of democracy under neoliberalism, in which "the democratic role of the people has been reduced primarily to the electoral process."

Personality and Behaviour

[edit]

Ochlocracy is usually very angry, and will often gang up on other people. Sometimes they don't even know why, but usually gang up on those who disagree with them or other petty reasons. His worst enemy is Autocracy. As this ideology represents collective action, they are almost never alone and can be represented by a group.

How to Draw

[edit]

Flag of Ochlocracy

The design of ochlocracy is a blue circle with a white pitchfork design on a white background. The pitchfork design is present, as many depictions of angry mobs feature people with pitchforks.

  1. Draw a ball,
  2. In the centre, draw a blue circle,
  3. Draw a white pitchfork inside the circle, coming up from the bottom of the circle,
  4. Draw the eyes, and you're done!
  5. (Optional) Colour the eyes red.
